Our History

Since opening its doors in 1994, Sunshine & Company has become a familiar sight for Fish Creek visitors and locals. The bright flower gardens surrounding the shop have been lovingly cared for, and filled with our unique offerings. We dare you not to smile in the face of whimsy!

When the property was first being developed for the shop, what is now Sunshine’s cement patio had another building on it. When that building was knocked down a barn was found, which was then restored and now houses Sunshine & Company. The historic log barn, known as Thorp’s Barn, was built in the 1850’s and stands on what is presumed to be its original site.

Founder's Square Sign

Pete and Bonnie Smith, who also own Bath, Body & Soul Essentials in Founders Square, ran Sunshine & Company by themselves at first, and added employees as needed. Today the employees of Sunshine provide just that: a little sunshine, no matter the day, with their friendly and knowledgeable service.
